Setting Up

Connecting OBS Studio

3 min

Configure OBS Studio to send its RTMP output to Stream Guard instead of directly to your streaming platform. Stream Guard acts as a local RTMP receiver.

Key Points

In OBS, set the stream server to rtmp://localhost with your local port
Stream Guard receives the RTMP feed and converts it to HLS segments
You can preview your stream locally before going live
OBS connection status is monitored and displayed in the client

Details

The default RTMP receive port is configurable between 1024 and 65535. Most users keep the default setting.

Stream Guard parses FFmpeg stderr to display real-time stats like FPS, bitrate, and resolution directly in the client.
